Sunday 6th September 2009 Arrived at the farm where Dave & Gill were waiting in the truck to take us on our way. The sun was shining and we were excited, apprehensive and keen to begin our journey across the big pond. Chatted and laughed all the way down to Manchester. My advice to anyone, just follow the signs for the airport, don't listen to sat nav's. We drove through Moss side – oh my goodness, what a place. At one point I told (didn't ask) Gill to lock the doors and put the windows up – air con is a wonderful thing. She just laughed at me. Mind, I wouldn't even argue with Gill so I knew we were definitely in good hands. We stopped for some lunch and good chatter just outside the airport. We were all quite hungry by this point so our meals went down a treat. Our company was even better. Finally arrived at the Premier Inn at Manchester Airport. Brand new building, very smart. We said our goodbyes and I had a few tears and went to book in. very impressed with the hotel, very clean and the staff were very friendly too. Our room over looked the airport. Was a strange feeling, we could see planes taking off but no noise – aahhhhh – double glazing is amazing. We freshened up and took ourselves down to the lounge area where Michael sat for a full 6 hours and watched the cricket. He rang everyone he needed to – don't you just hate it when people pass you the phone when you least expect it – but hay, they are our friends and they know us very well. Finally, after the cricket and the phone calls, we resided to the dining area. As we were sat waiting for our dinner, there was an almighty CRASH, BANG and lots of shouting from the kitchen area – it was great, so much action in there then a few plates came flying through the door – all the other guests looked around in disgust, WE on the other hand thought it was funny. People forgot that chefs are normal – and it must be true – they are bad tempered. The waiter came and apologised – we were fussed – it just added more excitement to our journey. Finally, it was sleep time – after a few lagers we both slept in the best est beds ever that a hotel can provide – THE PREMIER INN BEDS ARE SOOOO COMFORTABLE. Not advertising this fact on behave of the premier inn, but honestly they are.
